Ashley Givens (Emory University, B.A.; The Courtauld Institute of Art, Ph.D.) is a part-time assistant professor at Wake Forest University. She specializes in portraiture of the nineteenth century and is particularly interested in the intersections between painted and photographic works. Dr. Givens worked for many years as a museum curator (both in the US and UK) and previously taught as an adjunct professor at George Washington University.
