Brianna Guthrie (Syracuse University, B.A., University of Florida, M.A., University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, PhD) is a postdoctoral fellow at Wake Forest University and teaches the history of early modern European art and architecture. She specializes in the arts of early modern England, with a particular focus on portraiture, gender, and body theory. Her current research examines images of maternity, matriarchy, and caretaking, and considers the ways in which women as mothers were both passively depicted and actively involved in the creation of art. Other interests include the intersection of fashion and art and technical art history.
